We believe in a God that extend an extravagant welcome to all people, we welcome and affirm all people into our fellowship regardless of their age, race, class, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, what you have or have not done and in the spirt of the Hebrew prophets of old, to work for justice for all persons.
"Whoever you are, where ever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcomed here."
. PILGRIM UNITED TO INSTALL NEW PASTOR
Pilgrim United Church of Christ will install the Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson as pastor on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the 3:00 PM. Dr. Anderson has been serving the congregation since April of 2021, but due to COVID complications the installation will be held this October. She will also be welcomed into the Old Colony Association of the United Church of Christ.
Dr. Anderson served as the Executive Minister of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches for almost 13 years before retiring from that position in January 2020. She has served as pastor in churches in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island as well as in administrative positions in several religiously affiliated institutions. In August of 2017, at the age of 69, she came out of the closet and shared with her family and the world that she is a transgender woman.
“I’m so excited to journey with the folks at Pilgrim along their spiritual path. This is a congregation that has shown that they are more concerned about living the love of Christ than convention. It only took a few weeks to figure out that this was a group of Christians who understood that Jesus’ Gospel really is for EVERYONE.” Anderson continued, “The service will be high energy and fun, while expressing this congregation’s vision of a community that welcomes all.”
The public is cordially invited to the installation.
Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson
